RUNNING WILD PHOTO EXHIBITION

Nina Dodd brought together nine Exmoor-based photographers and asked them to create images of wild Exmoor ponies over a period of six months in 2016-17 to challenge the traditional imagery of these iconic animals. The result is an engaging collection of images, presented in a multiple of genres and post-processing styles. A show of taking on a traditional topic and running wild with it. Steam Fayre and Vintage Rally

Dates: Sat 5 – Sun 6 Aug 2017, 10am – 5pm, Norton Fitzwarren TA4 1BH – Mighty steam engines; trusty tractors; vintage cars and motorbikes; military tanks and displays; shire horses, go-karts & miniature railway. Take a trip along the old Barnstaple Branch line in a ‘brake van’ hauled by a steam engine, or try working a pump trolley along the rails. Lots of other railway exhibits. Enjoy arena parades; children’s entertainment; market and craft stalls. Large refreshment tent selling real ales & ciders. St. Dubricius Flower Festival

Our ancient church is filled with beautiful displays of flowers. Refreshments are available all day in church. There will be a children’s activity [the church mouse trail] Adults anjoy this too! There will be a variety of live music. On Sunday morning, the church will be used for services, at which all are welcome, but the Festival will continue in the afternoon. Family Butterfly Trail

Exmoor Adventures

BCU Kayak/Canoe 1* Course

Date: Sun 6 Aug 2017, all day, Wimbleball Lake, Exmoor

This is a great 1 day course to introduce kayak and canoe skills on flat water. An ideal candidate may be trying paddle-sport for the first time or have some previous experience. You will be taught a range of skills and techniques, as well as rescue techniques and safety considerations. You’ll be able to practice these skills in Canadian Canoes, sea kayaks, river kayaks and sit-on-top kayaks. Minimum age for this course is 14 (parental consent needed) Course cost: £70 per person; All equipment is provided: Kayaks, cags, wetsuits and bouyancy aids.

Level 1 Mountain Bike Skills

Date: Sun 6 Aug 2017, all day, Horner, Exmoor

This course is designed for riders who have limited off road experience. We go through all the basics from pre ride checks and bike set up, through to correct gear selection, tackling rough and rocky terrain as well as learning wheel lifts, track stands and much more. Course cost: £50pp    Mountain Bike hire available for an extra £15.

Tree Climbing Activity

We’ll teach you the basic skills to get you climbing and belaying on a range of trees, using holds and branches to climb high into the canopy! We provide: Harnesses, helmets, instruction. Ratio: 1:8 maximum Cost: £35pp adults (AM or PM session), £25 children aged 10+ (AM session only)

Mountain Biking

We’ll take you on one of our classic Exmoor routes, which takes you through ancient wooded valleys, along beautiful rivers, over open moorland and down fun, fast single track. A good level of fitness is required for this activity. We provide: Quality mountain bikes, helmets and gloves. You need: Active clothing, trainers and a back pack for water and snacks. Coasteering

Dunkery By Moonlight
